Today, July 31, marks the deadline of application for a "generous" Australian scholarship that I've been eyeing on since May. I did a lot of preparations, asked for recommendation letters from professors in college (thanks to Sir Ralph and Pauline, I will always be indebted to these people). I even consulted some of my Australian friends about life in their country. I've done enough to the point of having a somewhat clear picture of things happening next year.
But sadly, the universe didn't conspire even if I wanted it so badly. As of this writing, the most important piece of document for the application package which is the "unconditional" letter of offer from the university is still not in my possession. I got accepted into the program, yeah, but i still have to provide proof that I am proficient with my English. I did my part though, I took the earliest available slot for the exam which was July 7. (I didn't know there are so many Japanese who also need a proof of their English. Grrr!) The favorable results arrived last week, and I immediately notified the staff of the university. But up to now, I haven't received any word yet.
Time had run out. I failed on this one. Byebye Australia...
(For now that is. Coz here I am, hoping for Plan B to work out and still keeping my fingers crossed with a little twinkle in my eyes.)
